Hares

The mad hares of March are males. They stand on their back legs and box each other to impress the females.

Size: The females (does) are over two feel long and are slightly larger than the males.

They are a mixture of brown and grey hares and their ears have black tips. Their underside is paler.

The brown hares feed on herbs in the summer and grasses in the winter. They also like cereal and root crops.

The female will have between 3 to 4 litters each year and 2 to 4 leverets (babies). Gestation period is approximately 42 days.
